I cannot stress enough the importance of using updated or revised forms when available. I still see landlords using the residential lease that was written over 10 years ago. There are important reasons to update rental documents: (1) To comply with changes in the law, (2) To eliminate problematic language that has caused problems for landlords. The “Notice of Departure” section has been amended to better clarify the law regarding the termination of a lease for the term. The 30-day period required to terminate a monthly lease has been changed to 28 days to comply with Wisconsin regulations.
